It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alice Lois Pitre Mitchell, a devoted wife, loving sister, remarkable mother, and a dedicated friend who was loved by many and will be missed by all. Alice's long, courageous battle with cancer came to an end on July 31, 2026. She was 69 years old.
Alice was born to Nathaniel & Leola Pitre as one of nine on July 13, 1957. She attended Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown, TX, class of 1975. She was a brilliant and accomplished woman with a passion for people. She retired from Lee College after 32 years of service, where her colleagues and friends remember her as a diligent worker and mentor to many in her field. Alice's nurturing spirit, infectious sense of humor, unwavering support, and boundless love will forever live on in the hearts of her children (Alicia Thomas and Ebony Stewart).
Her kindness and compassion touched the lives of so many, and will be deeply cherished by her husband, Rufus Charles Mitchell III, family, friends, church, mentees, and colleagues. Her legacy will endure, and her spirit will continue to inspire us all.
Memorial services to celebrate Alice’s life have been entrusted to Frazier Funeral Home.
A Celebration of life will be held at Memorial Baptist Church, 600 W. Sterling, Baytown, TX. 77520, with visitation held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 9-10:45 A.M., followed by services at 11:00 A.M.
