Althea
Harris
August 18, 1952 – June 13, 2020
Born in Chicago, Illinois on August 18, 1952. She was the daughter of Willie Edd Harris Sr. and Ludie Bell Harris. She was the oldest of five siblings to whom she offered her love and support even when they didn't want it!. Althea accepted Christ at an early age at Progressive Baptist Church in Chicago Illinois. "Thea" as she was affectionately called by her family, was a self-made woman. She attended Kennedy-King College graduating in the nursing class of 1975, holding the office of Sergeant-at-Arms. She later graduated from Baylor College of Medicine becoming a Certified Nurse Midwife. She worked as a CNM until her transition. She enjoyed swimming, mentoring young ladies and spending time with her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her - often unsolicited - advice, fiery personality and giving heart – she loved hard.
Althea was blessed with one child in life. She would raise that child, care for her mother and grand-daughters and live out her days loving and doing as she pleased.
Althea departed this life on June 13, 2020 at the age of 66. She leaves to cherish her memory, her mother Ludie Harris, her husband John Robinson, her daughter Letitia, grandchildren Jaida and Jasmine, brothers Willie Edd. Jr., Marvin (Geraldolyn), Kenneth (Gwendolyn) and Kevin. Althea leaves a loving family of many nieces and nephews, namely Tyrone Harris (Tiffany), Mark Harris (Octavia), Tamesha Norrels (Dre), Courtney Triplett (Eric), Kendolyn Harris, Brittany Littlejohn (Mark), Kaylyn Harris, Kennan Harris and Kaleb Harris along with a host of grand nieces, nephews and cousins.
