Barbara
Wilson-Tate
May 7, 1953 – June 30, 2020
Barbara Wilson-Tate was born on May 7, 1953 in Ville Platte, Louisiana. To her family and friends, she was affectionately known as "Bob."
Barbara began her formal education in Ville Platte, Louisiana. As a student at James Stevens High School, she excelled at academics, band, and sports. After high school, she continued her education at Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. There she pledged Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. She spent most of her career working for Pogo Producing Oil and Gas Company.
Barbara united in holy matrimony with her high school sweetheart, Chester Tate, Jr. From their union came a son, Theron, and a daughter, Carla. Not only were they blessed with children, but Theron was born with special needs.
Barbara's most precious love was her family and friends. Her quiet spirit did not stop her from enjoying a good time. She loved to talk, sing, dance, and attend church. Barbara worshipped God and studied His word diligently at Abiding Faith Baptist Church where her membership remains. She faithfully served as a deaconess, as well as one of the facilitators for the Elderly Ministry.
On June 30, 2020, the Lord looked down on Barbara, saw that she had fulfilled her purpose here on earth, and therefore called her home.
