Obituary

Earlest Fontenot Jr. was born August 24, 1947, to Earlest Fontenot Sr., deceased and Elsie Mae Fontenot of Ville Platte, Louisiana. He was raised in McNair and later moved to Baytown. He was affectionately called "Chief, June, and Crazy Horse (Hoss)" by some of his family/friends and "Big Daddy" by the grandkids.

After graduating from Baytown George Washington Carver High School, he went on to serve his country and was honorably discharged from the Air Force. Upon returning home, college was on his mind as he attended Prairie View A&M, where he also enjoyed playing baseball. In 1988 he attended Lee College and obtained an Associate degree in Business Administration and in 1998 he obtained an Associate degree in Air Conditioning and Heating.

Earlest Fontenot was united in Holy Matrimony, 50 years ago to the love of his life Sandra Lorraine Thibodeaux on August 28, 1971. To this union three daughters were born.

Earlest was a devoted, hardworking, and caring man. He loved spending time with his family and friends. His favorite saying was, "Keep it between the lines." (Keep it between the first line in Genesis and the last line in Revelations).

God was always opening one door after another for Earlest, and he was blessed to retire after 36 years of service from ExxonMobil Pipeline Division in 2005.

Fontenot was a highly skilled man with multiple talents to include being the sole proprietor for Fontenot Maintenance Air Conditioning & Heating Co., rebuilding old cars, and vegetable gardening. His company was more than just an A/C business, this was a time for him to share God's word, uplift and encourage others in despair. For he knew that it was a blessing to give more than it was to receive. He gave back through teaching Air Conditioning and Heating classes at San Jacinto College, coached girls softball teams in Baytown, sponsored several little league teams, assisted with the 1 st weeklong Juneteenth Celebration of Baytown in 2009, help collaborate with the Baytown Housing Authority a free ESL and Finance Class through the church and was one of the church bus drivers on Wednesday, Sunday, and any weekend activities for the Ladies & Youth Ministries.

He was elated when he received the news that he would be the 3 rd Baytown Carver High School baseball athlete to be inducted into the Hall of Fame by PVILCA in July 2019. He was so appreciative for this opportunity.

He was a member of the Blue Lodge Mason - 32 nd degree Mason & the Doric

Temple #76 Shriners of Baytown, where he contributed a lot of volunteer hours to each organization.

Earlest loved the Lord with all his heart. He has been a member of Central Church of Christ at Baytown (formerly Oak Addition COC) for 45 years. He became a deacon in 1990 and an Elder in 1992. Serving as an Elder, he did not know how to say, "No" because he loved helping those in need including strangers. On any day, you could pass by the church and see him on top of the roof, working around the building or on any other project to build God's kingdom. His dedication, commitment and faithfulness went far beyond just Sunday worship. He was involved with the Finance Department, Ladies Ministry, and Youth Ministry to name a few.

He was the perfect example of a true servant of God, who loved his church family and the numerous activities that came along with serving God as an Elder.

After three scores and fourteen, God decided that Earlest had fought a good fight, he had finished his course and he had kept the faith. God called him home Wednesday, April 6, 2022, surrounded by his family. A job well done, a life well lived, and a reward well deserved.
