Gwendolyn Joyce Bates, 67, of Baytown, Texas passed away on Monday, November 4, 2019. Gwen was born on December 9, 1951, second child of Nelson and (Katherine Bates) who preceded her in death. Gwen was the mother of one son, Kyle Major Bates who also preceded her in death.

Gwen attended Harlem Elementary and Baytown Junior High before graduating from Ross S. Sterling and Lee Junior College. She worked at several temp jobs before landing at DuPont plant in LaPorte and was there for 31 years until her health got bad.

Gwen is survived by and will be greatly missed by her Father, Nelson Bates; Sister, Velma Bates; Brother, Paul Bates (Tasha); Nieces, Jazzmin Bates, Myshae (Kat) Bates, Nephew, Meshach Bates and several aunts and uncles, cousins and friends.
