Obituary

Hazel Bernard Williams was born on November 19, 1921 in Liberty,Texas to the late Mary Mallett Bernard and John Bernard. Hazel was the 2nd to the youngest child of five children. Hazel gave her life to our Father and was Christened in the Catholic Church at an early age. Attending school in Liberty, Texas until 1934, she married Henry Willis Sr.; later moved to McNair, TX, became an entrepreneur and owned rental homes, a grocery store and teen club located in McNair,Texas, named Willis Grocery; from that union 7 children were born in which 4 are living, Henry Willis Jr (Gene), Leon Willis, Jenial Willis Lockett & Juanita Willis Serrette (John). Later in life she married Ennis Williams and stayed joined in that union until his passing.

In addition to being a wife, mother, grandmother, a great-grandmother, a great-great grandmother and Aunt as well, most importantly she was the "Matriarch" of the family; and Hazel is a woman of great faith and wisdom who loves the Lord, her family, friends and once enjoyed gardening, knitting, making quilts & flower arrangements. She had a loving spirit and tried to help those she came in contact with. Whether it was cooking for or feeding them, or giving someone groceries, she did everything from the heart and what a big heart she had. She believes that everyone should always trust God and remember that He is the leader of their life.

Hazel also leaves to cherish 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 17 great great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were 3 children, 4 grandchildren, 3 sisters, and 1 brother.  As the oldest living Mallett descendant, Hazel lived to the amazing age of 102 years old. Surrounded by family, Hazel transitioned peacefully in her sleep on April 16, 2024.
