On March 28, 2023, James Dwight Gordon (lovingly known as Deacon to family and many friends) passed away peacefully at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Hospital in Houston, TX surrounded by love ones. Family was of utmost importance to James.  Born in Baytown, Texas on August 23, 1949 to the late Helen Boozer Gordon and Siamon Gordon (still with us at 104 yrs.).  He was the beloved husband of Patricia Lyn Bagdazian Gordon; he was the loving brother of the late Roy Lee Howard, Benny Lynn Gordon, and Thomas Wayne Gordon; and sisters Constance Noel Kanaway Gordon and the late Tanya Gail Anderson Gordon; devoted father to Demetra Monique Underwood and Marcette Denise Gordon; proud Grandpa to Heather Underwood, Tiffany Underwood and Kyle Woodworth.

After attending Prairie View A&M University, James served honorably with the US Army for well over 25 years.  He was every bit a 'Military Man'.  Most of his service was as a Sargent First Class in Transportation; some of his accomplishments include the Overseas Service Ribbon, the Army Commendation Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal and the Bronze Star. The Army was also where James developed life-long friendships such as with Demetris Sylvester of Newport News, VA.

Throughout his well-lived life, James loved sports (avid fan of Baltimore Ravens, Houston Astros and La Porte Bulldogs).  He also loved baking, fishing, clean cars and a well-manicured lawn.

Frazier Funeral Home, located at 7623 Harrison Street, Baytown, Texas will work with the US Department of Veterans Affairs for final arrangements including military honors.  Once confirmed, details will be shared with Family and Friends.
