Larry Dale Herd, Sr. from Barrett Station, Crosby Texas departed this life Thursday, May 14, 2020. Larry was born on September 17, 1951 to the union of Sylvester Herd and Essie Walker-Herd in Barrett Station, Crosby, Texas. He attended Charles R. Drew High School. After graduating in 1971, Larry went on to begin his landscaping company. Larry loved singing. He started singing at an early age and never stopped. He sang with The Herd Four and the Soul Survivors. Larry accepted Christ at an early age while attending his childhood church, True Vine Missionary Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving partner in life, his wife of 43 years, Arvia Herd. He also leaves sisters and brothers, Joyce Evelyn Herd-Patton, Doris Elaine Herd-Hill (Roosevelt Hill), Kenneth Wayne Herd, Edith Faye Herd-Williams (Greg Williams), Raymond Eugene Herd (Denise Walker-Herd) Children, Larry Dale Herd Jr., Tosha Herd-Bernard, Wesley Smith, Charlie Thompson, Latusa Rideaux-McCray, John Owens, Gary Totts; Stepchildren, Shantá Creeks (Lawrence), LaToshia Nichols, Dee Baskin. Grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family, and friends. He will be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
