Lawrence Edwards was born on August 19,1929 to parents Virginia Frank and Horace Edwards in Ville Platte, Louisiana.  He was the oldest of the family's children including, Laura Jane Thomas, Faye Williams, Emily Joy Patton (deceased), Gussie Marie Coleman, Horace Edwards, Jr., Robert Edwards, Rodney Edwards (deceased), Roger Edwards (deceased), and Paul Edwards(deceased).

Lawrence enlisted in the US Army on June 12,1946 where he served as a scout during World War II.

Lawrence married Essie Marie Smith (deceased) and this union produced two sons, Lawrence Gale and Steven Ray.

For many years he worked construction with Laborer's International Union #18. Upon his retirement from construction, he worked as a mechanic for the Goose Creek Independent School District.

Lawrence loved to cook, and tend to his garden, but most of all he loved fishing. If he could fish every day, he would do it!  And often times he did!!

Lawrence was devoted to his sons, Lawrence and Steven.  He had many friends and enjoyed visiting with them under his carport.

He was a devoted member of Unity Missionary Baptist Church. Lawrence enjoyed church services and was a man of faith who possessed an inner strength and resilience that saw him through over 90 years of life.

He is survived by his sons, Lawrence G. Edwards (Sharon), Steven Ray Edwards (Deniese); Grandchildren: Tracy Lawrence Edwards (LaQuitha), Hillary Lovick (Femi), Brandon Edwards (Aerika), Brittany Essie Olivia Turner (Marcel), Kristopher Darnell Edwards (Shala), Steven Ray Edwards Jr. and Simone Desiree Edwards.

Additionally, Lawrence has five (5) great Grandchildren. Tracy Lawrence Edwards Jr., Addison Ann Edwards, McKenzie Deniese Turner, Jordan Lawrence Edwards, and Avery Kay Edwards.
