Mozell Roberson
Sr.
May 1, 1936 – July 26, 2020
Mozell Roberson Sr., age 84, a true Baytown pioneer, took his last boat ride on the way to fish with the Master of Heaven and Earth, on Sunday, July 26, 2020 at 6pm. A self made man known to the most Baytown residents as "Fender Bender's son", he successfully owned and operated one of the first Black-owned businesses in Baytown, Mozell Roberson's Paint and Body Shop. Famous for his quality of work and countless philanthropic acts, Mozell donated to city-wide little league teams and even sat on the board of Baytown's Chamber of Commerce. Mozell's greatest and proudest accomplishment was being a dad. He deeply loved and doted on his children, teaching them life's lessons, attending all their sporting events, supporting each child's endeavors, taking them on extended vacations and countless fishing trips. Mozell enjoyed spending time with his children and he formed a unique and impenetrable bond with each. Mozell was born on May 1, 1936 in Heflin, Louisiana to Willie Roberson and Thelma Stinson-Harrell. Both preceded him in death, as did his brother, Ezell Roberson. Mozell is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Stoneham-Roberson, sons and daughters: Belina Tenort (Vance), Michael Roberson (Desiree Hines), Michelle Roberson (Gary Lewis), Mozell Roberson Jr. (Clarrisia Harris), other sons Mark and Marvel Roberson, 8 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.
