Oscar Page, 84 of Baytown, TX earned his wings and transitioned to external life with our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 16,2022.
Born September 30, 1938 in Dayton, TX, Oscar was the youngest of 10 children born to Clebert Page and Armies Dartes. Oscar was a graduate of Colbert High School. Shortly thereafter, joined the marines and proudly served from 1957 to 1962. Upon his honorable discharge, Oscar went on to become a chemical plant worker. In 1962, he married Bessie Mae Usher, started a family and continued working as a plant operator at Lyondell Petrochemical (formerly ARCO). After 35 years of being a dedicated employee, Oscar retired in 2004. He then went on enjoying his passion of gardening, spending time with the family and cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Oscar was a fun, loving, intelligent husband & father with a great sense of humor. One of his favorite quotes was " I'm so smart I get headaches" & " dont you know I'm from West Liberty County, Dayton Tx" followed by laughter. He loved life, telling corny jokes and took great pride in taking care of his family. He believed whole-heartedly that you should always give your best no matter the circumstance and to always be on time! Oscar was definitely a leader not a follower, who marched to his own tune. He was not afraid to say what was on his mind and to stand up for what was right. He did not "sweat the small stuff" or complain, but rather did whatever needed to be done#workethic.
Over the years, he and my mom opened their doors to many family members, both individuals and entire families. He taught us to be respectful of others and to honor our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Oscar was also a great cook. Since he grew up in such a large family, he didn't know how to cook on a small scale, so we always had plenty to share. He had many favorites including Gumbo, menudo and biscuits to name a few. Oh and how could we forget the syrup and baseball sized biscuits( again, nothing small scale), syrup and cheese sandwiches( only you loved) and that 30 weight gravy which Joe & Bridgette mastered.
Preceding him in death were his parents, 3 Brothers; Moran, Clarence and John, 3 Sisters; Nola, Earline,Zula.
Oscar is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Bessie Page; 2 Daughters; Bridgette and Ivy ( Robert) , 2 Sons; Travis"Tony" and Clarence "Joe", 1 Sister; Marie Hamilton, 1 Sister in law; Jessye Johnson & children, Grandchildren; PJ (Jessica), Jasmine, Jayla "Meme", Anaya, Joshua, JoeJoe,Mahogany, Chardae, Great Grandchildren; Kevorian, Naomi,Trevion, Brianni, Javion, Royalty, Kimannii and Amari along with a host of other
