Obituary

Pastor Arthur Douglas "Doug" Pitre, a man of unwavering faith and devotion, passed away on January 9, 2025, leaving a remarkable legacy of service to God, his family, and his community. Born October 5, 1947, in Houston, Texas, he was one of 13 children and dedicated his life to Christ at an early age. A graduate of George Washington Carver High School and a U.S. Air Force veteran, Arthur built a successful career as an electrician at DuPont while answering his call to ministry. Over 42 years, he served as associate minister and pastor of Mt. Calvary, Mt. Zion, and St. Paul Missionary Baptist Churches, mentoring others in faith and holding leadership roles in the General Bowens Missionary Baptist District Association. Married to Alice Jordan Pitre for 47 years, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, cherished by a large family and many friends. His life exemplified faith, resilience, and grace, and his impact will be felt for generations to come.
