Stephen "Lester" Lloyd, 83, of Baytown, Texas passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. He was born November 14, 1941, on the Island of St. Lucia in Gadette, son of Harrister Lloyd and Anazilta Kelly Joseph. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Stephen is remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his beloved daughters Stephanie Lloyd, Caroline and her husband Renald Celestin, Sylvian and her husband Neil Charles; sons Francis Lloyd, Alvin and his wife Jessica Lloyd, Steve and his wife Tiffany Lloyd, Conrad and his wife Nadra Lloyd; sisters Mary "Roslyn" Baptiste, Marie "Clara" Louisy, Fafan Eugene, and Flora "Vealta" Lloyd; brothers Hugh "Joe" Joseph, Sylvester "Kelly" and his wife Nedra Lloyd; grandchildren Alan and his wife Chernele Lloyd, Tamika Rosemond, Conniel Lloyd, Jamiya Forde, Jayla Lloyd, Genelle Samuel, Shamika Lloyd, Shanika Lloyd-Marion, Rashima Lloyd, Timanesha Brunson, Deondra Lloyd-Heldore, Abigail Lloyd, Aleah Lloyd, Noah Lloyd; 21 great-grandchildren, 47 nieces/nephews, and numerous cousins, relatives, extended family and friends to name.
In his retirement phase, Stephen found great fulfillment in his active participation at Saint Joseph Catholic Church. He served faithfully as an Usher, attending services regularly and contributing to the vibrant community of faith until his illness made it difficult for him to do so. His dedication reflected his profound spirituality and commitment to his church. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family ensuring they always had a roof over their heads and food on the table.
A legacy of love and care that will endure for generations. He cherished simple pleasures, finding joy in the taste of stew pork and breadfruit and the sounds of Country and Western, especially Jim Reeves. He lived by the words, With God's Will and it was with God's Will that he is no longer with us for his journey with Chronic illness escalated until God, in his divine mercy, took him home.
Stephen's life was rich with love and family. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, resilience, and unwavering devotion. The love and support from his family during his final moments undoubtedly brought him great comfort.
Stephen was preceded in death by his parents Harrister Lloyd and Anazilta Kelly Joseph, his beloved wife Elvita Geny Lloyd, two sons Vernon and Justin Lloyd, grandson Irad Lloyd, three brothers Cyril Gustave, Victor "Kingsley" Joseph, Hudson Estave, two sisters Agatha "Say Say" Florant, Beryl St. Croix.
