Obituary

Tawanna K. Royer, born December 9, 1974, in the Bronx, New York, passed away on May 27, 2026, in Houston, Texas. Her journey through life was marked by unwavering generosity, quiet strength, and a heart that became the very soul of her family. Tawanna was a woman whose compassion radiated through every act of kindness, embodying love not just as a feeling, but as a powerful and healing force.

A graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown, Tawanna furthered her skills through vocational school, paving the way for a multifaceted career where she excelled as a dental technician, surgical technician, and histology technician. In these roles, she moved with precision and care, dedicating herself to the well-being of others in moments when they needed support the most.

Tawanna’s spirit was one of subtle strength. Despite life's challenges, she refused to be discouraged, approaching hardships with grace and resilience. She was generous beyond measure, always encouraging those around her through the simple but profound act of giving of herself fully and lovingly, right in the moment without hesitation.

Her quiet moments of joy were often found in something as simple as shopping, a therapeutic pastime that brought her comfort and peace amidst the demands of daily life.

Among her proudest accomplishments was witnessing how her willingness to love and care for others deeply touched lives, especially at their most vulnerable times. This legacy of heartfelt compassion remains the imprint she leaves behind—a testament to a life lived with purpose and an open heart.

Tawanna’s love and kindness became the heart of her family. She is survived by her son, Micah Thomas; her beloved grandson, Bobby Thomas; her parents, Justin and Jessica Royer; her siblings, Joel Royer and Chavonda Royer; and a host of other relatives and friends whose lives she enriched beyond measure. She is preceded in death by her brother, Shaun Royer.

A memorial service to honor Tawanna’s life will be held on June 8, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Mt. Rose City of Refuge, located at 13000 Crosby Lynchburg Road, Crosby, Texas 77532.
