Obituary

Valerie Ary, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2024, at Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital, leaving a void her family cannot fill.  She was born on March 17, 1953, in Minden, Louisiana, the oldest of eight children; her parents are the late John D. Wilson and Ossie B. Wilson of Houston, Texas.

Valerie graduated from Webster High School and obtained a bachelor's degree with honors in Special Education from Grambling State University in 1973, after which she became a lifetime educator.  After spending several years teaching at Stuart Elementary in Louisiana.  Valerie relocated to Baytown, Texas, where she taught at several schools while pursuing her master's degree.

At the time of her retirement from teaching in 2004, she maintained an active volunteer presence at Houston Methodist Hospital, within her church community and traveling to visit in other states despite health difficulties.  Valerie loved to cook, including making her signature gumbo, sewing , traveling and spending time with family.

Her loving memory is treasured by her devoted husband of 55 years, Clem Ary Jr and her two children; five grandchildren and one great grandchild; three sisters and four brothers and several nieces and nephews and extended family who all treasure her loving memory.  Valerie was a proud loving mother of Christy and Creston, but strict.  These two were her pride and joy.  She insisted that thier birth changed her life for the better, and they felt that in the love and support she provided.

Valerie is survived by her devoted husband Clem Ary Jr., her daughter Christy Ary of Texas and son Creston Ary (Traci) of South Carolina, five grandchildren: Cristian Ary (Stella) of Virginia, Cayden, Solange, Rayven, Chandler all of South Carolina and one great grandson Odie Ary of Virginia.  Three sisters: Carolyn Wilson, Cindia Randle, Jackie Moseley, four brothers: Gregory WIlson (Yolanda), Douglas Wilson, Kinney Wilson (Angie), Calvin Wilson (Angela), all of Texas, sister-in-law Maggie Jean Ary Hudson of Louisiana (Bernard) many nieces and nephews, other relatives and dear friends who will never forget the love she brought to their lives.
