Valrie Ann Chavis Brown was born on February 14, 1942 in Church Point,   Louisiana. At the age of twelve years old, her family relocated to Barrett Station, Texas. Valrie, foundation in education started at Crosby Independent School District graduating from Charles R. Drew High School in 1960.

She farther her education attending Prairie View A & M University in Prairie View, Texas, receiving a  Bachelor of Science and a Master Degree of Education. Valrie, taught in Crosby School district which included Charles R. Drew Schools and and retired after 40 years.
